Dumfries Cathedral Church
 

The Cathedral Church of Our Lady and Saint Ninian is the seat of our Bishopric, and the centre of our liturgical life. The Cathedral has been recently acquired and we are in the process of restoring and renovating the building.

Services on Sundays and Feast Days

First Vespers - 6pm (the previous night)

Worship on Sundays and Feasts begins the preceding night with First Vespers, a chanted evening service according to the Use of Sarum.

Holy Mass - 10:30am

Mass is celebrated at 10:30am, and followed by a community meal in the Centenary Hall.

Second Vespers 2:30PM

Sundays and Feasts are concluded with a chanted service of Second Vespers.

Services on normal Week-Days

Morning Prayer - 8:30am

The office of Morning Prayer is said daily from the Book of the Parochial Use in English.

Angelus and Paternoster - noon

Evening Prayer - 6pm

The Angelus is recited, followed by 3 Decades recitation upon the Paternoster Beads.

The office of Evening Prayer is said daily from the Book of the Parochial Use in English.

Compline - 10pm

The office of Compline is sung according to the Use of Sarum in Latin. An English translation is provided.

Mostly held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham at Buittle Castle.
